Stroller

After a crazy day of shopping - I think I went to every baby store in Sonoma and Marin counties, I found our stroller/car seat. I love the pattern - It's green, brown and cream and it has vines and leaves. Now we just have to figure out where the heck we're going to put it...

Baby Stuff

Last week I ordered a gorgeous baby carrier/sling from etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5366490. It arrived yesterday and I love it!

I tried it out when I got home from work and since Bean isn't here yet I let Teddy (our black cat) be the first to go for a ride:

I don't think he was too upset about it, but probably not something we're going to do on a daily basis.

I also ordered some onesies and socks from Gymboree because I had a coupon and they were too cute not to get. It's going to be trouble when I know if we're having a boy or girl because I don't know if I'll be able to control my shopping ;)

Finally an update

I've been slacking off and haven't updated in awhile, so here it goes.

A month ago we had two doctor's appointments, and we were lucky enough to get to see Bean at both of them. The first appointment was at Kaiser - Bean looked like an alien, but it was great to see him/her look more baby-like.This appointment was so much fun because Bean was rolling around and moving back and forth. I can't wait until I can feel all those little movements.

Our second appointment was in San Francisco for a NT scan - It's part of the 1st trimester screening that tests for Down Syndrome & chromosomal defects. This appointment was hard only because I had to have a really full bladder and they were pressing down on my stomach for 20 minutes. They had a monitor up on the wall so Matt and I could see the action. We got a couple of pictures, but the quality isn't that great.

Bean decided to take a nap when we got there, so they had me roll back and forth and press on my stomach. That seemed to do the trick because Bean started flipping around and kicking his/her legs. After the ultrasound we got to meet with a genetic counselor to go over the ultrasound and our blood test results. They told us that we have a 1/10,000 chance of having a baby with a chromosomal defect. Great News!!

I'm starting to show - At least to Matt and I. To other people I think I still just look chubby. I can't wait to have an obvious baby belly =)

I'm 15 weeks today, which according to Babycenter.com means Bean is the size of an apple:Our next appointment is in 2 weeks just for a checkup. We should be able to find out the sex in another two weeks after that. =)

First Craving

This morning I was at the store grocery shopping when I realized that I absolutely had to have root beer. Very interesting since I HATE root beer. I spent 15 minutes searching for root beer that is caffeine free - Thank goodness for IBC. When I got home I couldn't drink one fast enough - I even made it a root beer float. Delicious!

First Appointment

Today we had our first appointment. I've been so nervous & anxious & excited that I could hardly concentrate the last couple of days. We saw the NP this time, which was great because it's the NP that I normally see for my OB/GYN appointments. She asked if we had any questions and then we went over the mountain of paperwork that we had to fill out before the appointment.

After all the questions and answers we got down to the good stuff - The Ultrasound! Once she found Bean on the screen she turned the monitor around so Matt and I could see too. We got to see the heartbeat (it's too early to hear) flickering away. It was so completely amazing that I have no idea how to even describe it. She moved my due date from February 21st to February 17th, but said it could be a week either way and Bean is measuring around 6.5 weeks even though I'm "officially" 7 weeks and 2 days according to Kaiser's pregnancy wheel. Oh so confusing.

She printed out some pictures for us to take home and sent me to the lab to have blood work done. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the lab tech - She was really friendly and totally understanding of my needle phobia. She turned my chair around so I didn't have to look, and I didn't even feel the needle - amazing!! She's definitely my hero for the day.

We go back on August 4th and get to see Bean again when he/she will look more like a baby and less like a rice crispy.
