31 weeks...

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but I finally have time to update so here it goes.

I had my 30 week appointment about a week and a half ago. Everything looks good & Maddie is measuring a little ahead. She's stubborn like her parents though and hasn't turned yet, so as of right now she's breech. She still has a little time to turn, so we're hoping she'll find her sense of direction and flip. If she doesn't flip we have the option to have the doctors try to flip her, but I don't think we're going to try it - It can be pretty painful & it's not always effective. Other than that, if she doesn't flip we'll schedule a c-section for early February. Apparently there are several things I can try at home to encourage her to turn - Some make some sense and some seem downright crazy, but as the weeks go by we'll see how desperate I get.

I had my company Christmas party last weekend and looking at the pictures made me realize how big I'm really getting. I guess that's bound to happen now that Maddie weighs almost 3.5 pounds.

We're looking forward to Christmas this week and seeing all of our family. I'm still trying to grasp the fact that this is our last Christmas just the two of us - Next year we'll have a ten month old!!

Here's what babycenter has to say this week & some pictures:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Cats Gone Wild

Apparently my cat Sparky didn't enjoy being left alone today. I've been home with him since Friday & he repaid me by stacking up the following items by the front door today: A slipper sock, a sock, my tank top, a dolphin stuffed animal & my personal favorite - My bra. LOL

Maddie's Coming Home Outfit

Since Maddie's due in February when it's still pretty cold I wanted to find something warm to bring her home in. I found this cute one piece sweater from Old Navy & I'll pair it with a onesie underneath.

28 weeks & Belly Pic

No real updates this week, but here's what Babycenter has to say & a belly pic

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

New Hair

My long hair has been driving me crazy, so I made a big change today and cut it short. I cut off about 11 inches, so I was able to donate it to Locks of Love =)

It's so much lighter & I love it!27w 4d

Holy Cow!

Wow it's been a busy couple of weeks with traveling, working, friends visiting and doctor's appointments.

Two weekends ago I went down to LA for my best friend Jen's engagement party. It was great to see everyone & the party was tons of fun. Jen also got me an amazing cake for my bday (see the picture below).

Last weekend Matt and I worked on getting more stuff done for the nursery (we got our bedding!!), and we also had friends visit from out of town to watch the UFC fights.

After two weekends of being on the go I'm ready for a break. Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up on some sleep this weekend.

I took my gestational diabetes test and thankfully passed, so I can keep eating the sour patch kids I have come to love during this pregnancy.

I had my 27 week appointment yesterday and everything is going great. Maddie's growing a little ahead of schedule and her heartbeat is strong.

Matt and I also started our childbirth class last week and had our second class last night. We're both pretty shy, so it was uncomfortable at first, but we had a lot of fun last night. It's nice to get a bunch of info and also meet other expecting parents in the area. We have 3 more classes and then we're signed up for a newborn care class & I'm signed up for a breastfeeding class - Then we're done!!

I think that's all the updates for now - Here's what babycenter has to say this week and a few pictures.

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

25 weeks

I've been slacking a little bit on updates, so here it goes.

I'm 25 weeks (Eek!!!) and everything is going well. I'm staring to get a little bit uncomfortable, but nothing too bad yet. And I think Matt is getting used to my waddle instead of walk.

We've also almost finished the nursery =) We've had the crib for awhile, but we've added a (pink) bookcase, a dresser/changer, some decor & my favorite part a rocker that used to by my grandpa's. My dad had it redone to match Maddie's room and I LOVE IT!! Now we're just patiently waiting for Maddie.

Next week I have my gestational diabetes test - I'm not looking forward to drinking the lovely sugary orange drink, but I'm happy to do it, so I can make sure Maddie's ok.

I'm off to LA this weekend for Jen & Alex's engagement party, so I'll have more updates when I get back, but for now here's what baby center has to say and some new pictures.

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

24 week belly pic

24 weeks...

I can't believe I'm 24 weeks already - She's going to be here so soon.

Here's what baby center has to say this week.

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

23 week belly pic

Well the fruit got smaller, but my belly certainly didn't

23 weeks...

So at least the fruit got smaller this week, although technically now they're just showing me that she almost weighs a pound...Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

22 Weeks

Here's what BabyCenter has to say this week .... Is it just me or is the fruit getting scarier and scarier????

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

The Nursery

The nursery is slowly starting to come together. On Friday we received the decals we'd ordered from Dali Decals They're super cute and they weren't too difficult to put up. It was hard to get a good picture since they reflect light, but you get the idea....

She's still a girl....

I had another ultrasound yesterday since Maddie wouldn't hold still the first time. Everything looks great and she's measuring right on schedule. And the ultrasound tech verified that she is still a she - No suprises ;)

20 weeks

Here's what BabyCenter has to say this week:

How your baby's growing:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Bedding???

I think we've decided on bedding for the nursery. I really love the combo of pink and green.

19 week belly pic

Here's what Babycenter.com says about her this week:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.Oh and my new favorite thing is the snoogle body pillow - I haven't been able to sleep much in the last week and this thing is amazing

Matt's officially outnumbered....

Our house has begun to be taken over by pink & purple. I did some shopping this weekend at the outlets and my friend Rebecca from work (who has as big of shopping addiction as me) bought some adorable stuff too. I also made a very girly tie blanket.Have I mentioned that baby shoes are pretty much the cutest thing ever
