Who's in charge here?

Because clearly it's not me. As of today I'm officially 41 weeks pregnant, and Maddie still isn't showing any signs of showing up anytime soon - Well not on her own anyway. I've been trying to do my best to keep myself distracted, but it's hard since it's been raining non-stop for the last two weeks. I can't exactly get out of the house and go for a walk. I'm also no longer fitting into about 90% of my maternity clothes, so I'm trying to stick to places that don't frown upon the sweats look. Maddie has 5 more days to decide to come out on her own and if not I'll be induced on Sunday night. Either way we'll have our baby girl home by next week - Woohoo!!

Here's a belly pic from the other night - Excuse the weird angle - Matt didn't want to get off the couch =)

Yep, still pregnant

My due date has come and gone, but Maddie has decided not to make an appearance yet. I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and I'm making lots of progress. I'm 4 cm dilated & 80% effaced. Now I just have to wait and see when she decides she wants to come. If she doesn't show up this week I have another appointment on Friday the 27th & from there we'd schedule an induction for March 1st or 2nd. Hopefully it doesn't get to that point.

Here's what babycenter has to say this week:
It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

Doctor's Appointment

I had my 39 week doctor's appointment yesterday and everything looks great. Maddie's still growing right on track & I'm finally making progress. Here are some numbers from the appointment that may or may not mean anything to you - I'm 2 cm dilated & 75% effaced. Maddie's really low & my doctor expects her to be here any day now, which is great since I'm no longer sleeping.

Here's what babycenter has to say this week:

Your baby's waiting to greet the world! She continues to build a layer of fat to help control her body temperature after birth, but it's likely she already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of her skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

So Uncomfortable

Technically I still have 9 days until my due date, but I am so flippin' uncomfortable. I have loved everything about being pregnant - the way my body has changed, knowing I'm carrying our daughter, the way strangers act - but now I'm done. I'm ready to meet our little girl. The most frustrating part is that no matter how much I walk, bounce on the yoga ball, eat spicy food, etc. I have absolutely no effect on when Maddie's going to make her appearance.

On a less whiny note, I had some belly pictures taken by Danielle Fletcher (http://www.daniellefletcher.com/) last Thursday. She sent me some teaser pictures and they turned out amazing. I'm so lucky that I got to have her capture the end of my pregnancy. I can't wait for Maddie to get here so Danielle can take some pictures of our whole family.

38 weeks

I'm officially 38 weeks and STILL PREGNANT! I'm getting really uncomfortable and sleep is rare, but despite all that I'm going to miss being pregnant. Matt and I can't wait to meet our little girl - We're starting to get really anxious.

Last Saturday night I had a bunch of Braxton Hicks contractions and thought it might be a sign of things to come, but no such luck. I've been walking a lot and bouncing on my yoga ball in hopes that it'll help get things moving along, but it looks like Maddie's on her own time line. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to check my progress, so we'll see.

Matt and I went to the "lake" in Rohnert Park yesterday to take some belly pictures - I realized we only had one picture together since I've been pregnant and Matt was in his pj's.

Here's what Babycenter has to say this week:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
